Preparing for the PACER test!

In February, T&L students will participate in The PACER Test!

The PACER Test is an aerobic capacity test that becomes more difficult as it progresses. This is done to measure the aerobic fitness levels of each student.  In preparation for this, the physical education classes are working on their aerobic conditioning, which has been a part of their curriculum since the beginning of the school year. The students have been completing timed runs at the start of classes each week.

The objective of this test is to run back and forth for as long as possible across a 20 meter space. This will be done at specified pace that gets faster every minute (9 laps).

The PACER is a good indicator of the ability of the circulatory and respiratory systems to supply oxygen to functioning muscles.  In other words, this test helps determine the student’s capacity to perform activities using large muscle groups over an extended period of time.
