Some Attendance Reminders
Please take a moment to check your child's attendance record so far this year. Attendance is noted on midterm reports and progress reports, but also can be accessed at any time through the family portal. It would be good to keep track of the numbers.
State Requirements for Attendance:

To be more clear, state mandates require that absences not exceed 17, with the understanding that five tardies are the equivalent of 1 absence.
High School Application Process and Attendance Records:
It is also important to know that when 8th grade students apply for high school entrance, attendance records are extremely important. If absences and tardies exceed even ten in a year, a high school admissions committee will typically prefer applicants with better attendance patterns. This is, in fact, even more significant than test scores or grades.
