"I'm so Hungry"
It comes to us at the same time each day--usually about 1:45. That little voice, sometimes unsure, and always wanting. "I'm so hungry. Can I have some crackers?"
Fourth and fifth graders are growing--their bodies and their brains--and it makes them really hungry. Many start the day with a good work out at PE, and immediately upon return to the classroom the water bottles and food come out.
And it makes sense. The body works best when the glycemic levels are kept even. That means eating small meals throughout the day.
We suggest discussing with your child about if their food is carrying them through to the end of the day, and then making a food plan for them. Let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
