Two Summaries from Sophie
I read the book Holes by Louis Sachar. Stanley Yelnats is under a curse. This curse would always get Stanley into bad luck. One day Stanley found a pare of shoes belonged to a famous baseball player. He went to court and had a desision to either go to prison or go to Camp Green lake. Stanley chose Camp Green lake. Camp Green lake used to be a lake but it dried up and was now a desert. All the boys and Stanley at Camp Green lake had to dig holes 5ft deep and 5ft wide in the hot sun all day until they were done. If they found something that the warden would like she would give them the rest of the day off, otherwise they wouldn't get the rest of the day off. The warden was looking for something that's why she would make the boys dig. At the end Stanley found a binder that the warden was looking for, but it actually belonged to him and his family. Afterwards Stanley and his friend went back home. The warden had to sell the land and it became a Girl Scout meeting place. I liked the book because it was like an adventure in my opinion. I liked Stanley because he was always trying to be helpful. I dis liked the warden because she was torturing boys.
I read The Tale of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo. Despereaux is a mouse he was different then the other mice. He didn't follow the rules and one day he went up so close to the princess he let the princess touch him. His brother Furlough saw him and told their father and now Despereaux was going to go to the mouse council. Despereaux had a choice to let the other mice forget what he did or be sent to the dark dungeon.
Roscuro is a rat born before Despereaux. Roscuro was the one who killed the queen and that's why the king forbade eating soup. Roscuro fell into the queen's soup then she had a heart attack after that the king made the announcement that soup was forbidden. Rats were also forbidden but they didn't leave they stayed in the dungeon. King’s heart was broken and this event changed his whole life.
Miggery Sow was born before Roscuro and Despereaux and her mother died early on. After her mother died her dad sold her to a farmer for a handful of cigarettes, a red tablecloth and a hen. A couple years later when Miggery Sow was doing her work she saw the princess riding her pony. After that her dream was to be a princess. Miggery and the farmer got the news of the queen’s death and that soup is forbidden. The guard told the farmer to give away their kettles, spoons and other stuff which they use to make soup. The guard took Miggery to the palace because the guard found out that Miggery was being treated like a slave by the farmer. Now she was a maid at the palace. She met Roscuro when she was giving food to a prisoner. They made a deal to make Miggery the princess and to lock up the real princess in the dungeon. Despereaux saw the real princess when he was in the dungeon and tried to help her. He did rescue the real princess. After that the real princess forgives Roscuro because he killed the queen accidently and lets Miggery wear the real crown. The princess knew all of them wanted soup and they did have soup secretly and they all lived happily ever after.
I liked this book because it had an adventure . I like adventures because life is like an adventure. I would recommend it to people who like adventures.
