Four Nancy Drew Books Summarized by Laura

This is a review on four Nancy Drew stories all in one book that I read:
#1 "Sleepover Sleuths" is the first mystery where Nancy Drew and her two cousins/best friends Bess Marvin and George Fayne are asked by their friend Deirdre to help her find her Hollywood Heather doll that she lost during her sleepover birthday party.  
It's interesting because they use clues to find it. They find many clues, identify suspects and then they find out what happend to the doll and solve the case. Then, the girls make up the The Clue Crew
#2 "Scream for Ice Cream" is about the Clue Crew making an ice cream flavor called The Clue Berry for the Jim and Berry ice cream contest . Their friend Kendra Jackson came up with an awesome flavor, "Choc Full of Chocolate" for the contest. Kendra asks the Clue Crew to keep it  secret.  Next thing you know, everyone knows Kendra has a winning flavor from reading Deidre's website. Two days before the contest, Kendra's secret recipe was stolen and she asked the Clue Crew to help her find the thief. 
This story is interesting because they try to find out people's recipes that will lead them to the suspects. Then they get a message from someone in popsicle sticks saying to give up and they look at the brand on the sticks . Then they crack the case finding out the son of a another ice cream maker stole the recipe because he wanted his dad to have great tasting ice cream so people can forget about Jen and Berrys.

#3 "Pony Problems" is about a runaway shetland pony escaping from Mr. Johnson's petting zoo. Nancy Drew and The Clue Crew offer to help solve the mystery of why the shetland pony (Buttons) kept running away every night. Mr. Johnson said yes and they immediately went on the case. 
It's interesting because they identified many suspects that had very good reasons of their own to let Buttons out. There are are many twists and turns in this mystery that may lead you to different suspects.

#4 "The Cinderalla Ballet Mystery" is about Nancy, Bess and George in a ballet class. They are having their last recitals for  their next play Cinderella. The teacher ordered some very expensive not easy to replace clear plastic Cinderella glass slippers from france for the play.
And the next day they are missing! 
Its interesting because in this mystery they find suspects and narrowithem down till they have one person left. This mystery is different than others because they ask more questions to the suspects than they do in other mysteries.  
I highly recomend this book to any kid 1st grade up

Students studied the rules for possessive nouns.  The placement of that little apostrophe changes everything! Students created cartoons that demonstrate the difference between singular and plural possessives. Here are a couple things we noticed about their work: The students' drawings are creative. Each student's idea is unique. Students have been completing projects in math. Fourth grade students are ordering fractions on a number line.   The fifth graders are working hard, too. Fifth graders are learning good note taking skills and are using that skill to inform their understand of reciprocals and the inverse property. All of this is part of their study of fraction multiplication and division. Students went to free cone day!

More than One Way to Solve a Problem

Have you ever used the Egyptian method for large digit multiplication? How about the Mayan? Did you know there were different algorithms and methods for solving these types of problems? Fifth grade math students did some research and created displays on algorithms from around the world. Students have been refining and improving their accuracy and efficiency with the United States standard algorithm   During our course of study, the Investigations curriculum asks the students to use at least two ways to solve multi digit multiplication problems. Many have relied on the box method. Because of this study of world algorithms, we have seen the students pick up more strategies to bring to their mathematical problem solving.
